Neighborland provides citizens and civic-minded organizations a simple place to share ideas and collaborate. We’ve designed Neighborland to be a forum for productive civic dialogue, and we have a number of rules we enforce to maintain a high level of discourse.
Please review our community standards. Ideas and comments violating these rules are subject to editing or removal. If you see something on Neighborland that you believe violates these rules, please report the abuse.
Keep in mind that reporting content doesn’t guarantee that if will be removed from the site. Neighborland is open to expression that meets the community standards outlined below.
Safety is our top priority. Neighborland is a location-based community, and as such we take harassment and threats very seriously. We may remove content and refer to law enforcement when we perceive real risk to anyone’s well being.
Hate speech is corrosive and considered harassment. We do not permit attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition. We reserve the right to remove any content we find hateful.
Don’t post anything relating to minors that is inappropriately sexual or violent. We don’t tolerate bullying or any other harassments of minors.
We reserve the right to remove explicit content that is not appropriate. That said, we do believe that there are serious civic-conversations to be had regarding these topics, which we will try to accommodate.
We take threats of self-harm at face value, and will refer such content to prevention agencies around the country to provide assistance for people in distress.
Don’t use Neighborland to engage in phishing or fraud. Don’t use Neighborland to fish for personal information in deceptive ways. Don’t post content that violates others’ privacy, including personally identifying or confidential information like credit card numbers, social security numbers, or non-public contact information.

Don’t impersonate someone else in a deceptive way. Satire and parody are important parts of our culture, but make clear that that’s what you’re doing.
There is more than enough room on Neighborland for productive discussion, and even impassioned debate. People feel strongly about their neighborhoods, and sometimes conflicting opinions need to be hashed out. But if you want to do that hashing on our site, please follow the community standards outlined on this page. Raise your concerns, not your hackles. If you've got a better idea, please share it!
