We want interactive art installation that highlights neighborhood's unique character & instils local pride in New Orleans.

Using community input, to create an art installation out of the blighted property. Paint over the building to create a 'blank canvas', from there create a collage out of unique images/people/features of the neighborhood. Ideally we could build a simple website to allow people to upload ideas/suggestions/photos to include in mural. Or even a simple mailbox for direct submission. Each neighborhood in New Orleans is unique, and by highlighting it we not only beautify the street corner but also highlight reasons to be proud of your neighborhood.

I was originally thinking we'll create the stencil/outline from images gathered and have the community fill it out. An organized 'block party' to get the neighbors out and to socialize and paint would be awesome as well.

This is a pretty awesome suggestions. A pilot project would be fascinating. My guess is that you would need to cover said blighted property in plywood or some sort of sheeting to get the neighborhood to sign on.

Is it like a coloring book---the outlines are pre made, but then you "color" in? Or is totally free form from the start?
