47 neighbors want more playgrounds for kids of all ages in San Francisco.

New York City is testing its first playground for adults, at Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx, hoping it will succeed where treadmills have failed in combating rising rates of obesity.

I'd like one in SF too.

You can support allocating more of our city's budget to maintaining our parks by voting for Prop B on June 7th -

"Rusty swings, leaking water fountains, broken equipment and graffiti have long been problems for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. But there’s never enough money to fix it all. Funding for the department has dropped by nearly half over the past 15 years, and investment in parks has not kept pace with the city’s growing budget. Proposition B is a set-aside that would help the department tackle deferred maintenance by infusing more than $1 billion into parks over the next 30 years."

Love what the San Francisco shared schoolyard is doing. Thanks to Supervisor Farrell for leading the charge here -

I LOVE this! Related: I've frequently thought about putting a stationary bike or exercise equipment in my back yard & hooking up some sort of washer to do laundry. TWO benefits!! A workout AND clean laundry!!

Here's an 'adult fitness playground' that just opened near LA:

" Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park has dedicated a new outdoor fitness equipment area. Described as an 'adult fitness playground,' the new equipment was added to make exercising outdoors more fun for grown-ups."

What part of SF would be best for this? My initial thought is up near Cow Hollow/Pac Heights/the Marina; but I could also see it working well around Valencia or maybe near Divis.

When I first saw this idea, I was like, "What the...adults? playground?" but then... I realized, it would be awesome seeing adults use this "playground" to burn 'em calories and sweat 'em out. I love the idea, and I look forward on the thought of adults on a playground. Since the term "playground" is used, I can't help but imagine adults climbing jungle gyms, riding swings, etc. Hopefully, it'll be more than that. :-) And oh, the playground could have a surrounding oval (with measurements noted) where people can run around and do their running exercise, instead of going far. :-)

Right on! I'm not sure what this means: "a surrounding oval (with measurements noted) where people can run around" I like the idea of it having a way of measuring progress.
