Screening: 2.6 Square Miles: Stories of Challenges & Hope in East Palo Alto
Tuesday, October 24, 2017, 6:15pm - 7:30pm
Eastside College Preparatory, 1041 Myrtle St., East Palo Alto

What is life like for families in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park?

The Palo Alto-based Peery Foundation, which supports local youth and families, partnered with Eastside College Preparatory and Aspire Schools in East Palo Alto, education nonprofit Foundation for a College Education and the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League to probe this question, conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups with 70 residents.

Their comments have been compiled into a short, animated film, "2.6 Square Miles: Stories of Challenges & Hope in East Palo Alto," which the Peery Foundation will screen on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.

A panel discussion will follow.

"Given the complexities of the changing community, we wanted to give families the opportunity to amplify their voices and experiences to a broader audience to help steer action at a community level," an event description reads.

The event will be held in the auditorium at Eastside College Preparatory, 1041 Myrtle St., East Palo Alto. The film will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. To RSVP, go to evite.com.

A Monday or Wednesday evening would allow me to attend as well.

Every Tuesday and Thursday 6-7:15pm I teach a technology class for adults.

Thank you for helping to organize these gatherings.
