Geoff Lawton just featured a food forest development in Davis California which I think can be a nice set of concepts to follow for the food forest/community/farmers market.
This would be great especially for those who are close to downtown Mesa! For those who aren't as near here's another solution for you
My husband and I recently launched our business and our goal is to teach people how to garden in their own backyards. WE are both Mesa natives and would love to see our city flourish (both figuratively and literally)!
We offer various tiers that fit your needs and we also have free information on our website about what, when, and how to plant your garden. However, we have found through the years that the most successful gardeners are those that learn in person rather than through the internet! Check out our page (it's still getting built out) and contact us if you want to start growing!
As a lecturer and blogger on Edible Landscaping in the Desert I hope this project becomes a reality. I am happy to see this concept germinate and take root. I can pass the word around and see what interest I can dig up. All puns aside this is a project that NEEDS to be. -- Catherine, The Herb Lady
Hi. I am a director of Soul Center Project at 420 W Mahoney. So excited to read this post! We share in this vision ❤️ Soul Center Project is a non profit healing center for the community to gather in unity for the highest good of all. Hi!!!
We have a 6500 sq space in our backyard- located off of Country Club and Main Street. Today we met with a team of local Permaculturists, but we need all the help we can get from the community! We would love to connect!!
I am ready, willing, and able to begin this project whenever Mesa is ready. Here are photos of my earlier projects as a sample of my ability and legendary green thumb, more images here: peppergardens.blogspot.com/
I can design and build a rainwater harvesting system.
I am happy to assist others and directly help with the garden.
Join us at Mesa Main Library to discuss a very exciting proposal. The Mesa Green Center is a popular public initiative bringing a green center to Mesa, AZ! The proposed Mesa Green Center brings a food forest, community garden, nursery, community education center, and a farmer's market downtown in Mesa. This is a public exploratory meeting to see what it will take to make this popular initiative a reality. Join us to take a virtual reality tour and discuss this incredible community movement!
The City land at Mesa Dr/University (Site 17) might be a good location.
