98 neighbors want more indoor recreation space for kids and adults to gather year-round to exercise and play in Mesa.

Katie I
-With a lack of indoor fitness centers, it is hard to find affordable opportunities in the community to exercise or take fitness classes like those offered at the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center.

-There are not enough gyms in Mesa that provide public access for basketball and volleyball programs for both kids and adults. If more spaces like this were created, they could also be used for before/after school programs and camp locations as well as sports like dodgeball or badminton!

-Recreation centers could serve as a central gathering spot and a point of pride for surrounding communities with multipurpose rooms that can be used to offer special interest classes, meeting spaces for neighborhood/community meetings and event space for corporate functions or parties.

It would be awesome to get an indoor velodrome. This would be the only velodrome in Arizona and it could also be used to create high school track cycling clubs. Having the velodrome indoors would be awesome for cyclists during the summer when it is often too hot outside to ride on the road or the trails.

A Multi generational Center (similar to Red Mountain) would be a fabulous addition to the Eastmark area. One great benefit of an indoor center is having a cool area to workout while the weather is hot. Exercising outside over the summer is difficult because of the heat. Group workout sessions are also great, and offer a variety of different styles of body movement to suit all ages and preferences. Multi-generational centers also offer a great and safe space for teens to get together and spend time being active after school hours, and over the summer break. I believe that Red Mountain is the nearest rec center to Eastmark - and its a 20-30 minute drive to get there. A Multi generational Center would be a fabulous addition to Eastmark!

It would also be a great addition to the downtown Mesa area. The rec. Center on Broadway would need to be torn down and rebuilt either placed in a different area or the same area, like it was talked about when Mesa Jr High School was closed.

Indoor facilities for sports and rec use are scarce. The ones controlled by the city have limited space available. There are plenty of club teams that would use court space year round. Indoor and outdoor. And if it's a big enough venue then tournaments can be held there which would generate a lot of revenue for the city.
Also having an indoor park would be great for families to get out of the house during the summer. That means more activity for families, better sense of community, less money spent on utilities by families, job creation, etc.

This is ideal, especially during the summer. Love to have places to take the kids during those hot days besides the pool.

YES YES YES!!!! I live 30 mins. from the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center, it'd be AMAZING if there was something like that or even a few somethings like this. To my experience, the heat makes getting outside and getting exercise very difficult, a multigenerational center and more indoor play areas would be fantastic! The Copper Sky Aquatic Center looks really nice in Maricopa too, so maybe something like that as well, or even better, a blend of a multigenerational center and an aquatic center within reasonable driving distance.

More Rec Centers could be used for the City of Mesa Adaptive Rec to use them. I feel we need another tennis court too and a park's rubberized track.

We need more Sand Volleyball courts in Mesa. If we got indoor courts it would be huge! No one has Sand indoor courts. It's so hot in AZ but this sport is growing and Mesa is being left behind!
