207 neighbors want IKEA in New Orleans.

Population Density: The most basic requirement for a market is population. IKEA’s market research calls for a minimum of two million people within about 40-60 miles of a single media market. Statistical data from the US Census is used to determine whether a market is viable simply on the grounds of population density. Metropolitan Statistical Areas may be used as long as the population is in one media market.

Per Capita Income: Although it is widely speculated that there is a minimum per capita income for a viable IKEA market, I haven’t been able to put my finger on a number.

Brand Awareness: IKEA looks for a brand awareness in a potential market, plus both local city and community support for an IKEA is an important factor.

Single Media Market: IKEA prefers an area where the population is in one major media market so that radio, television and newspaper ads can be targeted to one market.

I would love to have a IKEA in the city of New Orleans . I moved from Atlanta back to hometown new Orleans this year. Ive shop at IKEA some many time s and I love the store . There so many pl moving to new Orleans plus the taxes is is so ridiculously high and ppl want to have great experiences shopping for there new apartment r home. and they don't want the crazy prices tags for luxury . I love nice things at reasonable price that I can afford on a glam chic fashionista Budget so if you find it in your heart to bring a IKEA to New Orleans I'll be so happy and grateful and I think everyone else will too thank you Angela W .

Agreed. I am a loyal IKEA shopper and furnished three previous homes with IKEA furniture and house wares when I lived in Houston, London, and Dublin. Now that I am in NOLA I miss IKEA sorely. High quality, good design and reasonable prices. Nothing in NOLA comes near it.

If Ikea really open in NOLA they definitely will attract people from south of AL and MS. I'm living in Mobile Al and i have to drive to Atlanta Ga to shop at Ikea. The driving time is 5+hrs and is not a fun things to do.

I live in Mississippi & stumbled upon IKEA in Houston while there with my husband on a business trip. I'm addicted & NEED an IKEA fix now! NOLA is 2hrs from home as opposed to 6 hrs to Houston! All I can say is, "Please bring IKEA to NOLA!" That's all the Big Easy lacks!

Plenty of great spaces in New Orleans East where they could build a huge store. Close enough to Slidell and the Gulf Coast to bring in those customers as well.

We definitely need an IKEA in New Orleans! There are several good locations, but the best that I can find would be right off of I-10 between Read and Crowder, where the old Wal-Mart and Sam's Club used to be pre-Katrina. Go like and share my facebook page IKEAinNOLA, if we can get enough likes perhaps IKEA will listen!

That is a great location. Another great location is on Bullard where the old grocery store used to be..Rouses I think. They could either use the old building if its sound or tear down and rebuild.

I know Ikea target market range is 2 million for a metro area but South east Louisiana is rather unique in that 2.5 million people live within a 65 mile radius of New Orleans even though the NOLA meto area is 1.4 million.

250,000 Houma
200,000 Gulfport

I LOVE IKEA! I went to one in L.A. three or four times during each my 2 recent 10 day visits. I was able to get so much at such reasonable prices.

My daughter has shopped IKEA for years and furnished her apartments in L.A., NYC, N.J. & once again in L.A.

Please open in the NOLA area but, not in New Orleans East.

Open in Metairie or Kenner, L.A. you'll still get the Ms. people. I just can't go the drive to Houston.
Thank you for considering our requests.
