@Alan I'll say with great bias my neighborhood, Golden Gate, anchored by Actual Cafe and Compound Gallery, both of which already do a bunch of night events. (Lots of other artsy establishments too.)
@Mike any thoughts on potential satellite locations?
I think it'd be better to expand geographically, whether under Art Murmur banner or others. There's lots of great art and culture happening in Oakland beyond the Northgate-Uptown-Downtown-JackLondon corridor that AM occurs in.
From recent conversations with folks, it sounds like Art Murmur has really become a huge event. Making the event more frequent---even every two weeks--would likely take the pressure of growth off the event, and make sure that business can keep growing.
ONLY is this resulted in a percentage of money made from art murmur going to local neighborhood community groups. One must benefit the other-not displace them, which happens as landlords become more selective about who to rent space to in the Uptown District.

Saturday Stroll is a great alternative to 1st Fridays. Oakland Art Murmur members program themed guided walking tours of our galleries, artist talks, and special events. Saturday Stroll allows visitors to engage with the art and gallerists at a more relaxed afternoon pace. Word is Saturday Stroll is the best kept secret for art collectors!
SAT 6/30 2:30-5:30PM #vesselgallery will have a closing celebration for "Charting the Waters" exhibition, with music performances by Zach Viera, Margo James, and Red Stepps. Excellent time to check out the show, hang out, and even meet a few of the artists!
We have the Saturday Strolls, which I love. I like being able stroll around without a big crowd, and though the hours don't run late, they work for me .
From @CCC_Art_ ... Instead of doing #FirstFriday every week, we have #SaturdayStroll every week with special events, tours and artist talks.
