Congress Street at High Street
Congress Square is the perfect place for food trucks! It would be much more affordable to keep the park in the condition it's in, instead of changing it into a "green" park, and allow food vendors, along with lots of sturdy outdoor tables and chairs, to occupy the space. With the new laws allowing food trucks around Portland (yay!) this would be the perfect combination of place and purpose.
Absolutely Vanessa! Have you thought about putting together a food truck round-up in the space? I could imagine that would be fantastic.
Turns out the new laws on food trucks are really restrictive. Just found an article the press herald ran about how food trucks are not allowed to 'cluster', meaning they can't be closer than 65 feet from each other on the peninsula, and 200 feet off the peninsula. To prevent competition apparently? Seems like an arbitrary restriction, that the vendors themselves should decide, not the city.
Hey Vanessa, neighbors in Nola actually came together to make restrictions more favorable. Check out how it happened here: handbook.neighborland.com/how-...
Let me know if I can help!
