It's amazing to watch the progress at Congress Square. You've come a long way, baby! :)

I want a small to medium size performance space with a SPRUNG FLOOR that makes it suitable for dance.

Ideas like this are fine and all, but if the city sells 2/3 of our land, we will not have enough room to do much> I do not think the city councelors should be making the decision to sell. We have so little public space on Congress st. now-- wendy

If we are not going to let the Hyatt build their conference center/ballroom (which could potentially be really good for local businesses, and we are not opposed to), then the next best use of the space would be as a well-landscaped, public park with a performance area. This could be a great central area for people to gather during first Fridays, and would contribute a lot to the revitalization of the Congress/State St. area.

In the past, the area has been a popular hangout for the homeless, but if it were improved and landscaped a bit, it would be a lot more appealing to average folks as a spot to sit and enjoy lunch, to host free/outdoor concerts, and just as a nice addition to our city's park system.

food, crafts performers and several people speaking up about why the space should be open and available for public use, at the same time demonstrating the benefits

Anyone have an visual examples of the type of improved public space you'd like to see? What would it look like?

A place for crafts as well as art/farmers market. We (www.humannatureofme.com) would love to participate! Right now we do not really have a place to fit in & can not afford to lease a permanent space.

Love it! And here's an example that you don't need expensive equipment and infrastructure to create an urban performance space: neighborland.com/ideas/sf-soma...
