By "neighbors" do you mean "people that look like me?"
Who can afford the overpriced items at this "night market?"
Certainly not neighborhood residents.
And it takes business from local restaurants and other merchants.
And the music is not very good.

Yes, this does seem like it is more for tourists and the new people moving into the high rent apartments which are displacing local folks. And, as I said before, the "crafts" market is nothing more, for the most, most part, than resellers who have a resell license to sell as they would at a flea market. Show me the craftspeople who sell there.

As someone who walks through U.N. Plaza every day, I have to say I was *really* excited to hear about the night market. The event was really well-executed every time I was able to go. I think judging by the amount of support on this idea and the success of the event in attracting thousands of people, it's really a great match for the location.

However, I do think it could improve if you add activities and vendors linked to the immediate community in/around the neighborhood. Here are a few things I'd like to see in the future:
*Kids area with a temporary play ground, bicycling clinic, and art/music
*Change the setup on the white fence gating-- it's a physical barrier that makes the event feel like it's not for the public
*More talent from the local community (all ages) using the performance stage.
*Donation-based vendor like Curry Without Worry (?)
*Nonprofit/services 'alley' where they could set up to provide information and outreach

What other suggestions do you have to improve the event? Are there community partners that would enhance it?

Thousands of people? I don't think so. I believe this event will die a natural death. Why would anyone go here? Most people I know already have plans for Friday nights. Who exactly "needs" the Night Market?

The people in the Civic Center neighborhoods need community space, access to affordable, nutritious food, clean streets, affordable and reliable mass transportation, recreation facilities, and affordable housing.

Civic Center Plaza would be a more logical and accessible place for events like this. Please leave U.N. Plaza in "Peace."

If the night market is a crafts market, as the one that is there now on Thursdays I believe, I want it to be a true crafts market and not just a place for re-sellers who have a tax exemption number who only sell products they've purchased for re-sell.
