Made it happen
Potential Treatments:
Dogpatch Arts Plaza (DAP) will convert a dead-end street into an 8,500 square foot arts-focused public pedestrian plaza at 19th and Indiana Streets in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood.  DAP celebrates  Dogpatch's artistic spirit and its industrial heritage by creating a public outdoor "art gallery"  for large-scale installations and performances.  DAP also serves as the starting point of an emerging "19th Street Green Corridor" that connects Esprit Park to the future Crane Cove Park at Pier 70.

Opportunities & Constraints:
Freight Traffic and Turning
SFMTA light rail tracks (south of 25th St.)

Dogpatch Arts Plaza's website is now up - www.dogpatchartsplaza.org

"Friends of Dogpatch Arts Plaza will be a nonprofit stewardship organization comprised of neighborhood residents, nearby business and property owners, and other interested stakeholders. This new nonprofit will likely be fiscally sponsored by a local nonprofit such as the SF Parks Alliance, a longstanding San Francisco nonprofit that helps ensure proper management of San Francisco's neighborhood parks by providing fundraising expertise, financial services, insurance, and administrative support to neighborhood stewardship groups. If you are interested in joining Friends of DAP or learning more, please contact us - office@buildpublic.org"

I just learned about this today in the Build Public newsletter:

"In March, Build Public was awarded a $200,000 Complete Neighborhoods Program grant from the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development, for Dogpatch Arts Plaza. The grant funds the bleacher-style seating elements in the plaza, which can be used on a daily basis or for special events such as performances or movie nights. Construction of Dogpatch Arts Plaza will begin later this summer with anticipated completion by the end of 2016. Sign up here to receive occasional updates about this exciting project."

Public Workshop #1: Central Waterfront - Dogpatch Public Realm Plan
Wednesday, March 9, 2016, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Smokestack Brewery - 2025 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA

The Central Waterfront of San Francisco continues to grow, accommodating both new housing and neighborhood commercial services, while maintaining many historic industrial marine functions. As more development is realized in the neighborhood, the streets, sidewalks, and open spaces of the Central Waterfront should receive appropriate improvements that better serve residents and employees.

The Central Waterfront / Dogpatch Public Realm Plan will set the framework for public space improvements in the neighborhood, guiding the investment of impact fees and other sources in the streetscapes and parks which tie the area together.

Come tell us what your priorities are for parks, streets, and sidewalks in Dogpatch! Join us on Wednesday, March 9th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Smokestack Brewery, 2505 3rd Street at 22nd Street. Your input at this meeting will help us decide which projects to design at future public meetings. This event is free and open to the public and registration is not mandatory.
