We want a retail business to occupy the space at 201 Steiner Street in the Lower Haight, San Francisco.

The owner of Bean There and the landlord/owner of the builder have confirmed, separately, that new lease negotiations were underway and fell through after the landlord issued an offer to the owner of Bean There, and the owner of Bean There failed to sign the new lease for more than eight weeks. As a result of Bean There's owner leaving the new lease unsigned, the landlord / building owner sought a new tenant and found Blue Bottle a willing tenant/partner.

Blue Bottle's request for conditional use authorization as a chain / formula retail faced stiff opposition from the Lower Haight Merchant Neighbor Association (LoHaMNA) and LoHaMNA was successful in blocking the approval of Blue Bottle's request for conditional use authorization — the space is now set to be vacant for the indefinite future, while the building owner / landlord seeks new tenants. It's unclear how willing, if at all, LoHaMNA is in helping the building owner find a new tenant to fill the space.

It would be great to make this page the central repository for this vacant space and what will replace Bean There, now that Blue Bottle's request for conditional use authorization has been blocked.
