One of the panelists at the Raleigh Design Panel at the Hopscotch Design Fest asked the audience "have you ever been to a city council meeting?" and received the response of silence. It's a great question and a fair point - citizens have to participate for their voices to be heard. But it's not fair to expect the average citizen to be able to attend a city council meeting in the middle of the workday. We need a way to participate with city hall that fits into our work schedules and isn't a burden.
The bridge bus used to be a good option to get to downtown Durham. I would love to see the city create something similar.
