A lot of that information is decided "just-in-time." The city has a sense of which spaces could be used as shelters but wouldn't make a decision until an actual event happened. That said, are you part of your local NERT group? You could probably work together to identify food sources in your area.

Thanks for clarification on this @Angel. Daniel Homsey said as much in a conversation I had with him about the shelter piece. We talked a bit about NERT at the Data Jam after you stepped out.

Also, is it fair to assume that NERT:SF as CORE:Oakland - meaning, are they roughly the same kinds of program for the respective municipalities?

@Krys I believe so. Different municipalities have different names for the program (for example, it's NET in Portland) but all are neighborhood-based preparedness training programs.
