Oh, and to answer your question Nathan: My product is a tool that anyone will be able to use. It has a lot to do with traveling and remembering places with a social element. I'm still in the early phases of its conception so I'll share more details when it's ready. I'm looking to connect with developers and like-minded people too :)
Well, it's not necessarily "for" the city of New Orleans. I think there are already a lot of businesses doing that. I know people who are from New Orleans love where they are from :)
What I'm trying to do is bring more diversity to New Orleans by doing a start up. Hoping to connect with the right people in the community, possibly bring new opportunity, new jobs and attention to the city itself as a whole...then pushing others in the community to start their own. Again, I don't know if there is a market or what the design/tech community is like in New Orleans. Are there investors that are interested in technology there? Are people willing to take risks? I know they are in NY and there are lots of them. And they want us to stay and build in NY.
Awesome guys - thanks for the support! I'm living in New York, but would love to do something in New Orleans like this (I'm from there, so coming back would be cool if it can work). How is the start-up community in New Orleans? Links/thoughts? Feel free to email me: samia@aplural as well. I'd love to hear about what's going on.
