A bike rack that featured a tire pump could be more interactive. Maybe the racks could be a part of a RTC campaign where users could check in to a RTC rack and each check-in is worth a .25 donation to a green-charity or future racks. Sounds like it could be an interesting RTC partnership since they are trying to do more to get people riding.
Not too sure who heads up those efforts but I know Ron Floth (FlothR@rtcsnv.com) who has been big on downtown biking events. He may be able to point you in the right direction.
There was just a showing of Casablanca in Huntridge Circle Park last Saturday and there are two more planned this year. Those events could be used to gauge interest too.
Steve from the Huntridge Project is all for installing bike racks at the theater and the neighborhood association is talking about getting some Huntridge-inspired racks for the park. I love the (bike) racks in Long Beach.
