What is life like for families in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park?
The Palo Alto-based Peery Foundation, which supports local youth and families, partnered with Eastside College Preparatory and Aspire Schools in East Palo Alto, education nonprofit Foundation for a College Education and the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League to probe this question, conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups with 70 residents.
Their comments have been compiled into a short, animated film, "2.6 Square Miles: Stories of Challenges & Hope in East Palo Alto," which the Peery Foundation will screen on Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.
A panel discussion will follow.
"Given the complexities of the changing community, we wanted to give families the opportunity to amplify their voices and experiences to a broader audience to help steer action at a community level," an event description reads.
