"Mayor Lee was a strong supporter of housing. He demonstrated a consistent commitment to subsidized housing and ending the overall housing shortage. He ensured hundreds of millions of dollars to affordable housing through programs like the Housing Trust Fund and Proposition A. Mayor Lee helped to steer San Francisco’s response to the city’s worst supply crisis by committing our city to build 5,000 new units a year for the foreseeable future.
In the face of almost universal opposition, Mayor Lee had the courage to fight boldly for public housing. As a former public housing resident himself, he was committed to San Francisco’s transformation of over 4,500 dilapidated units. Mayor Lee helped rescue this failed housing program and provide the high-quality housing San Francisco’s residents deserve."
We were stunned by the loss of Mayor Ed Lee early this morning, and give our condolences to his wife, Anita, his two daughters, Brianna and…
This Saturday and Sunday, we're kicking off our affordable and teacher housing ballot measure with two sessions teaching folks to organize and volunteer to gather signatures for our campaign. In order to collect signatures for our ballot proposition, you must attend a training session and get certified.
This is the first weekend, and we'll have more of these in the future. The sessions are short and will be lead by veteran organizers who will teach you best methods for approaching people, speaking about our measure, and activating your network.
RSVP on Facebook to either our Saturday or Sunday event - www.facebook.com/yimbyaction

At the Governor Signing Ceremony for the Housing Package, and the mood is universal: This is an incredible first step. It won't be the last.
This is a big one: The Mountain View city council may kill a proposal for up to 10,000 units of housing near Google's new campus on Tuesday, opting for as few as 1,500 units in the lots nearby after city staff recommended a dramatically smaller project than zoning allows.
Google's new 595,000 square foot campus was giving the greenlight earlier this year and will bring thousands of jobs to the region. We must demand Mountain View to allow housing in the area — councilmembers have already expressed disapproval of the max housing option, citing traffic and "quality of life."

The big day is coming – on Tuesday September 26 Mountain View City Council plans to give direction on how much housing to allow in North Bayshore where Google is headquartered!
